S. Cristobal was the starting point for the border of civilization: Palenque, Frontera Corazal, the Locandon Jungle... It's been amazing sleeping on a hammock in the middle of the jungle where you  can hear howling monkeys and tucans at the sunset... Currently I'm in P.to Arista, a ultra basic place on the Chiapas coast in a camping managed by a Canadian guy that lives here from more than 30 years. I just come today in Tonalá to change some money. How strange it is after after a couple of days of beeach and nothing else to get back in a city....

12 hours on the bus and finally San Cristobal. It's a city like no other, the border where the Maya and the western culture come together in a unique mixing of colors and people. This morning was freezing misty, now it's around 25 C and sunny. Santo Domingo it's not  only the main church of the city, it's surrounded by a colorful market where indigeenous people sell their artifact. A smail is always retourned and is a good start for some bargrain. Tomorrow I'm going to Palenque and from there the jungle....

After a couple of days in Oaxaca, having been to the ruins of Monte Alban, it's time move. This evening I've got a night transfer to San Critobal de las Casas, state of Chiapas. It's the most intriguing part of the journey and I'll be going up and down from jungle-like flatlands to the top of mouintains. I'll be following the inital section of the Ruta Maya ad the threshold of Guatemala in the Locandon forest. Palenque, Bonampak, Yaxchilan are on the must-to-see list. So far so good, Oaxaca it's a very relaxed city, it's simple to get around and people are friendly. Yesterday night there was a peculiar tradition in the Zocalo, and a lot of military forces areound.

Here I am. The city looks nice and the traffic is terrible (as usual). Got a nice and fancy accomodation, maybe a little expansive for the standards but for a couple of nights it works, I'll have time to save in Chiapas.
I'm starving, got to get something to eat and taste the cocina oaxaqueña, it´s supposed to be really good.

So finally I got it. It took 4 days to Mexicana de Aviacion to deliver my backpack but finally here it is. I left this morning Mexico City and now I'm in Puebla, a nice and colorful colonial city. After the incredible MC (21 M inhabitants) being here seems to be in a small village, though it's "only" 1.2 M people... So far so good, now that I've got my pack it really starts. Tomorrow I'm heading to Oaxaca, hope everything is fine as I've been told few days ago from a reporter I met during one of the visits to the airport. Next to come some pictures, I hope I can manage to get them on line.
